The goal of this campaign is restoring a first horreo in Galicia, close to Ribadeo.

Restoring and preserving the first one, will be a great step in our Project and a big demonstration to other owners of how they could profit their own horreos by preserving them.

What´s Walk & Hórreo?

Stop Hórreos Extinction

An horreo is an elevated wooden construction, created for the preservation and protection of the harvest and food. They are located in the Northern farming regions of Spain.

The major changes in the production made them useless and most of them have been abandoned and neglected, rushing their disappearance as most of the owners can not afford their preservation.

Walk & Hórreo aims to create an infrastructure able to make profitable Horreos.

Giving them new functions

Creating an App, the backpackers of the Camino de Santiago would locate the Horreos and spend the Night in them for a symbolic Price.

This action will provide benefit to the owners from an existing infrastructure that they own but they were not using anymore.

We ask for your help to restore a first horreo in an amazing environment

.

The Horreo is in Galicia, close to Ribadeo. We want to transform it into a hostel.

Restoring and preserving the first one, will be a great step in our Project and a big demonstration to other owners of how they could profit their own horreos by preserving it.

2_El Carboeiro

A site full of magic

The first horreo we want to restore is located on the 27th stage of Camino de Santiago, in Carboeiro. An amazing environment..

The hórreo owners, Lucia and Miguel, have moved to this amazing environment where they enjoy a direct contact with nature. They organize kayaking and mountain bike tours, they do reiki massages and also ecological agriculture. They will love hosting the sponsors to share with them the great energy of the landscape.

A landscape viewpoint

The Project concerns an small hórreo of 1.45x5.20 meters. The Access is provided by slate stairs.

We would like the hórreo to become a viewpoint of the surrounding landscape by being a transparent structure to create a direct connection with nature.

4_About the rewards

Most of rewards are in situ experiences

The sponsors who decide to follow us in this adventure, will get rewards on site, as we want to create a link between you, the horreo and the Carboeiro environment. We aim also to use the full amount of incomes in the Project and avoid producing secondary products that would raise the Price of the campaign. Miguel and Lucia own a company of adventure sports and also they practice Reiki. They will love hosting the sponsors to share with them the great energy of the landscape.

5_What will we do with your contributions?

Two different projects have been plan concerning the amount of incomes we manage to have. It is on the sponsors hands to decide which one will be developed. The full budget will be used on the reconversion and the interior furniture.

General Costs

Execution Costs

If we collect 8.5000,00 euros

That budget would be enough for a basic project of reconversion, and furnish the interior with a bunk bed. The main façade would be a wooden surface with a simple window. It would be a project beautiful by its simplicity

If we collect 12.500,00 euros

This amount would permit us convert the horreo into a landscape viewpoint by the creation of a transparent façade. We would increase the surface to place a double bed.

Walk & Hórreo it is a project promoted by Nacho Gias Studio with the advice of Factoria Cultural of Matadero Madrid. The project involves multiple disciplines and collaborations, for architects, App developers to the horreos owners.

8_Calendar

The preservation works would be executed during the next three months after closing the campaign. The first month would concern the project design, details, materials, etc. During the second and third month we would go for the execution on site.

As most of the rewards are experiences on site, we have to carefully planify a calendar to organize which day would come each sponsor, it can take almost one year until all the rewards are distributed
