AN ENSEMBLE DEBUT

Hombre de ninguna parte is a film that has gathered six colleagues and friends from the cinema industry. The project originates from the necessity to narrate, by ourselves and in a unique way, an important story to us, our own. A tale that revolves around the idea of breaking what’s expected of you (and what you expect of yourself). Getting out of the confort zone. Breaking out of the inertia. Finding your own path.

A small and artisan project that, thanks to Verkami ’s sponsors funds, connects us to a great compromise of excellency and be able to express ourselves creating our own environment.

How will we spend your contributions?

The contributions that we get with this campaign will be mostly used to finance the production costs during the shooting of Hombre de ninguna parte. These expenses will be distributed in material, location and transportation renting. A smaller part of the budget will be used to pay off the sponsor’s contributions, as well as the costs derived from the campaign, commissions and taxes.

Calendar and shooting plan

The shooting is scheduled to start this next fall and it will take place in Delta del Ebro. Due to narrative and aesthetic reasons, it is important to stick to this calendar, as pre-podtction will happen this spring and summer.

The movie will be shot in two weeks, with an intensive working plan that intends to optimise resources altogether with stimulating a more vibrant creative process for all the team. The following months we expect to conclude the project with a post-production that should finish on early 2018. Once the feature's filmed, we'll dedicate ourselves to its realease and prepare the rewards for the sponsors.

THE MOVIE

Synopsis

After his father's death, a young man without expectations in life tries to fit the respected place that's expected of him. He joins his best friend to end a pack of wild hounds that haunt the outskirts of the village. But meeting a girl that plans to escape the town will change his life's vision forever. What is there beyond what's unknown to me? Is this what I really want? A one-way journey towards maturity.

Characters

Our characters live in a village by the sea. The story unfolds in a world with no phones or internet, and where fashion is unheard of. Far from the city, life is calm and monotone. The same people, doing the same things.

Otto is one of them, respected by his lifelong friends and girlfriend. He's always been worried of what others think of him to prove he's courageous and strong. Otto is introverted, out-going and observant. One may think he's a boy satisfied with life, but deep inside he's very curious with what's unbeknown to him.

Nola is the town's weird girl. She represents everything that's different, and being different in such a closed environment is not easy. Nola is sensitive, rebellious and defiant. Looks and whispers became something usual after she got pregnant. She feels the town's asfixiating her and therefore she feels it is not her place anymore.

César is, without intending it, everything that the town expects of a young man. Loyal, bold and a natural leader, he's always been Otto 's best friend and confident. He has a limited vision on things and not very open to change. The town respects him and he feels confortable with it.

THE TEAM

We like naming Hombre de ninguna parte an ensemble debut, and we do it as a declaration of intent. Not only is this the first feature film for each of us, but also a project that is born with the spirit of six workmates that want to tell a story by their own means, backed by autofinancing and thanks to Verkami 's sponsors.

The script has been written by the director and the three main characters, as part of a cooperative creative process. Our Director of Photography, by her side, has accompanied them building a basic esthetic universe for the story. Finally, our producer has lead the ship towards the execution of the project by means of this campaign and the future production.
