“Tell Me a Brass Story” is Spanish Brass Luur Metalls’ latest recording project, dedicated to works for brass quintet and symphonic band, produced in partnership with the Banda Municipal de Bilbao (Spain) and conductor Rafael Sanz Espert.
From its beginnings, Spanish Brass Luur Metalls has devoted itself to creating new and original repertoire. This project furthers that goal, with commissioned works for brass quintet and symphonic band by such composers as Josep Vicent Egea, Ferrer Ferran and Gregory Fritze. Rounding off the project is Jean-Claude Naude’s “Tell Me a Jazz Story,” which in a play on words gives its name to the CD.
After several fruitless attempts at obtaining institutional support, we are asking for your help in releasing this CD on October 7, 2012 in the Palacio Euskalduna of Bilbao.
The music has already been recorded, but we need your support to be able to give this wonderful project the kind of launch it deserves.
THE REPERTOIRE OF THE CD
This project furthers that goal, with works for brass quintet and symphonic band such as Cool Brass Five by Ferrer Ferran and Fantasia Flamenca by Josep Vicent Egea, both commissioned by the Institut Valencià de la Música; and Excursions, by Gregory Fritze, commissioned by Spanish Brass Luur Metalls. Rounding off the project is Jean-Claude Naude’s “Tell Me a Jazz Story,” which in a play on words gives its name to the CD.
THE RELEASING OF THE CD
The “official” release CD will be on October 7, 2012 at the Palacio Euskalduna of Bilbao. But we would like to do an unofficial releasing at the Spanish Brass Alzira Festival (June 26-30), but at this moment we can’t confirm that.
WHY IS SPANISH BRASS LUUR METALLS DOING A PROJECT WITH VERKAMI? After several fruitless attempts at obtaining institutional support, we are asking for your help in releasing this CD with Verkami and maybe it will be not only financial support but also a moral support from you as well.
WHAT WILL WE DO IF WE GET MORE MONEY THAN REQUESTED?
Recording a CD such as this is neither easy or inexpensive. This one depended on having a top quality symphonic band, the Banda Municipal of Bilbao, conducted by Rafael Sanz Espert. And the highest quality recording equipment. In addition, all SBLM's projects deserve and receive the best graphic design and distribution. Should we receive more than 6.000 €, that will enable us to expand the dimensions of the project in terms of international promotion and distribution.
