Introspección - Ricardo Osorno's first album.

Introspection is my first album with original compositions and as a band leader. The album is a journey of introspection and a constant search of my sound, framed in the cultural and musical diversity of Valencia, Spain. My music represents the different states and emotional connections that have shaped my life and my path as an instrumentalist and composer. This is the essence of an album full of intricate rhythms and colorful textures brought by the combination of experiences and musical contexts of the band members.

For this record, I had the opportunity to work with outstanding musicians and friends: Joshua Wheatley -Piano (UK), Timotej Kotnik - Trumpet (SI), Patrick Graney - Percussion (USA) and Joe Sturges - Drums(ES).

Who am I?

I'm Ricardo Osorno, bassist and electric bassist. I’m Colombian, but currently living in Valencia, Spain. Here, I had the opportunity to work as a session musician and as a companion in different groups. I am a versatile and empathic musician, open to all kinds of sounds, rhythms and styles. After growing up and acquiring experience in this trip as a session musician, I am in search of my own voice. This is what Introspection represents, my first album as band leader and the project that depicts me as an artist.

What do I believe in?

I think diversity is the best part of music.

I believe that music made with honesty deserves a space and deserves to be shared. I think that creativity needs a deep and rigorous work to get the best results.

The Album

Introspection is a personal journey through all those moments, sounds and emotions that have defined my path as a musician and composer.

It will be a record of 9 songs, each one with a very specific color, but assembled become journey with a fresh and captivating sound, full of surprises in each of the instrumental combinations.

The double bass, piano, trumpet, drums and multi-percussion is the format I have chosen for this album. It is a very versatile ensemble in sound, and offers unlimited possibilities when improvising.

In addition, I have the honor and pleasure to work with exceptional musicians who come from four different countries and cultures: Joshua Wheatley on the Piano (UK), Timotej Kotnik on the Trumpet (SI), Patrick Graney on the Percussion (USA) and Joe Sturges in the Battery (ES). This group creates a very particular color, due to the mixture of influences that each one brings to the table.

I think the most important part of the composition process is when you can see yourself reflected in your music. It is then when you decide that it is worth sharing, and for me that moment has come. I have enjoyed the process of composition and creation and I hope you enjoy the result and the explosion of emotions that motivate this project.

How will I use the money raised?

The money raised from this campaign will be used to finance the mixing and mastering of the record, video equipment used for the project, the pressing of the physical copies of the album and the perks’ shipping. Likewise, the fees of the musicians and recording engineer will be covered. The budget is divided as follows:

Production Calendar

The recording of the album will be between May 9 and 10. Between May 12th and June 15th we will be working on the editing, mixing and mastering. At the end of the month, the album will be sent for pressing. By the middle of July the album will be finished, and during August the perks will be delivered.
