The ASPHYXIA project seeks to talk through visual arts about one of the biggest issues of our times, plastic and its harmful effect on our planet.
Through this crowdfunding we want to finance our first exhibition that will take place from 7th to 10th November in La Base de La Marina de Valencia (hometown of one of the artist) on the shores of the Mediterranean sea, one of the most affected by the abuse of this material by humans.
One of our main goals is to visually impact and get our message around: Any action can be transformed into a change.
1 ACTION - 1 CHANGE - 1 TRANSFORMATION
About the rewards
BAGS MADE OUT OF PLASTICS BAGS
Facing the problem of the incredible volume of plastic that we daily generate, our goal for rewards is to reduce a part of this plastic and give them a second life. Challenge it, use it and turn it into unique piece with to be exhibited.
What is one of the most daily used plastic object in everyday life, which is thrown the most, and left to be forgotten but so useful? Bags.
9 bags 1-use only - 1 bag forever.
The design of the bags has been made in collaboration with Crema Studio by Paula Camarasa inspired in nature elements. What is also interesting is the uniqueness of each piece, since the bags with which they are manufactured will never be the same, neither the hands of the weaver that converts the residue into a product.
Using the handcrafted crochet technique and a team captained by Noelia Coll and 15 women, we will transform these bags into new pieces with unique design and a lifetime guarantee.
Under this premise, ASPHYXIA becomes a multidisciplinary project led by Yasmina Benabdelkrim and Arcin Sagdic.
Together, they share and unify their beliefs and show them to us through photography, sculpture, painting, video and perfomance creating the UNIVERSE of ASPHYXIA.
What do we need the money for
Donations will mainly go to the production of the ASPHYXIA* exhibition and to each of the women who weave our rewards.
All the plastic used to elaborate both the rewards and the pieces of the exhibition is being collected from friends and family, cleaning of beaches, shops and remains of markets. Not a euro has been paid to buy new plastics.
The Exhibition Opening will be on the 7th of November until the Sunday 10th November.
7th NOVEMBBER at 19:00 h.
Performance at 21:00 h followed by opening party.
10th Novemeber with closing performance at 18:00.
