I’m Javier Monserrat and I am supposed to write a few lines about my project, Monserrat.
In the summer of 2007, I started to write my own songs apart from the bands I was involved with at the time, such as Dei Suoni, Bisagra and End of Copenhagen. That same year I moved to Madrid and, with a four-track EP under my arm, I started to play its circuit of clubs and bars. Since then, I have been recording new tracks regularly, while playing live here and there, with musicians from here and there as well… Until the beginning of 2011, when the band’s lineup became the definitive one, with its four current members.
I am moved when I realize that, after a long time struggling to write, record and play songs, we have finally found our collective voice, written our own story, fixed our errors and created a handful of humble but good songs.
And that is why we encourage you to get involved from the very beginning in bringing this project to life, and to become part of our record.
THE FIRST ALBUM
Although the four members of Monserrat have recorded with other bands under different names, we are really excited with our first record as Monserrat. We can’t wait to infect you with our sounds and we invite you to discover them with inflammable enthusiasm.
All the songs included in this first record are the result of a long process. They were recorded in different places and times between 2011 and 2013.
It all began in Madrid in October of 2011. The four of us live in different cities and have other bands, and with that and the usual gigs, the recording took up to this summer, when we spent a few weeks completing it in lovely Altea.
Pablo Magariños, Javier Montiel, Rafa Quinto and Javier Monserrat are the four musicians who have shaped these songs. We have had the priceless support of Daniel Montiel as the Sound Technician for the whole recording process. We still have to give it the finishing touches, which we will do in November at Estudio Uno, in Madrid, with the help of Pablo Pulido “Babe”.
WHAT YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS WILL BE USED FOR
The amount obtained from your contributions will be used to pay for the mastering and manufacturing of the record. This money will also cover some of the expenses derived from the rewards we give in return for your support. We are making CDs and vinyl LPs, as well as some lovely tote bags featuring a design by Javier Jubera. We are also making very special (exclusive and numbered!) lithographs created by Münster Studio Design.
We hope you find these rewards appealing and that you will support our project.
When the funding deadline arrives, we will send the record to do the master and the final version will be shipped to manufacture. These two steps together can take a month and a half, maybe two months, so you will be playing your brand new record at home by the middle of January. Kick 2014 off with Monserrat!
