The Cover and the preview Book
I have been working for Ediciones la Cúpula since 2002, publishing several comics and making some covers for the legendary magazine El Víbora. However, my recognition is due to working for Kiss comics magazine. My work within the erotic comic sphere has been published in several countries: USA, France, Italy, Netherlands and Spain. I refer to works like Flora or Susanita en la gran ciudad (Susanita in the Big City). But, undoubtedly, the most successful one has been Cuatro amigas (Four Girlfriends), which has been published in the United States, France and recently reissued in a complete edition and published in Spain in 2012.
This book is about my girls. I love them! I'm just not ashamed to say it: I love women shapes, especially their faces, and I love to draw and paint them! So I gathered some previous works, illustrations created for different publishers or just for myself, and other drawings which I have been recently doing, and I had the brilliant idea (we will see at the end whether it was such a good idea) to put them all together in an album. I hope you also find it a great idea so that we can make this project succeed together!
The album will be mostly composed of pin ups and ladies’ Illustrations on varied themes: images of daily life, steampunk, erotic, futurism and a bit of fairy tales, especially illustrations of my girls, which I feel like redrawing: Flora, the girls from Four Girlfriends and Akeronya and, of course, Susi from Cercanías (Cercle Intime) and Susanita in the Big City. There will be zombies as well! And it is because I find some beauty within their ugliness, and they are a nice contrast to my girls.
The book will also contain sketches, comic pages, various illustrations, and so on. Different techniques are used in it, which range from the most traditional to the ones drawn directly in digital format.
Finally, for those who love illustration, the drawing process of some of the illustrations will be showed in the album.
Enough talk, I prefer you to have a look…
The album format will be DIN A-4, 21x29.7cm, softcover, or hardcover in case we achieve the second objective.
It will be published in three languages: Spanish, French and English.
It will have 80 pages in color; 96 if we achieve the third objective.
The binding will be sewn ¾do not even think about these “autumnal” bindings in which pages start falling like leaves after reading the book several times.
The book will be co-produced and co-published with Ediciones la Cúpula, which will provide us with its precious experience in order to offer you a high quality product.
We will print 600 copies. After the crowdfunding rewards delivery, the remaining books will be put up for sale at a price of 33€. But that will only happen in case we succeed in this crowdfunding. The Only way to make this Artbook reality is to start contributing here and now!
I would like to ask you, whether you finally contribute or not, to be so kind as to help me with the promotion of this project ¾you can share the link and recommend it in your social networks if you think it's worth, of course. Promoting is essential to achieve the objectives. Thank you very much in advance!
You can find better quality samples of the original copies that you can get with this book in blog. If you want any of these illustrations, please help yourselves; images will be chosen in order of arrival.
The goal is to reach a total amount of 6,500€ of contributions to publish the book.
If we exceed the amount of 7,100€ of contributions, the album will be published in hardcover (3mm anti-scratch hardcover).
If we exceed the amount of 8,000€ of contributions, the album will be published with 96 pages. That means 16 pages more of beautiful girls!
The money raised will be mainly set aside for the production and distribution of the book: layout, printing, postage, translation, envelopes, etc. And a small amount for me, because I have to compensate to some extent all the time and work invested.
The release date of this album will be six months after the crowdfunding close. May-June 2015. But of course all the patrons will be reported on the progress and kept up to date until the book reaches your hands.
Why 6 months? Because the artwork must be completed, as well as the layout, printing, dedications and signatures, and sent to each of you.
